Empire of Gehrland
Where Barid Hold is the center of culture and sophistication, Gehrland is the home of tradition and contentment. Gehrland, at its height, was the other Old Empire which made war with Barid Hold until they both collapsed and peace was made.
While Barid Hold is always researching new things and adopting the latest fads in cultures, Gehrland honors the old ways of their people. Residents are very practical and hardworking. They do not shun magic, but it is less common within these borders. The people value simple lifestyles devoted to the pursuit of things like farming, crafting, and fighting. Gehrland’s urban areas are predominantly human, but this is not due to exclusion or xenophobia. Many races can be seen in the large cities of Gehrland; just not in the densities more commonly found in Barid Hold. Strangely enough, more diversity occurs in rural areas and border towns than in the larger cities. All forms of slavery are outlawed in Gehrland, and its residents find the indentured criminal system of Barid Hold to be extremely hypocritical to their claim of being cultured.
At War
The Age of Endless Conflict was defined and named for the war between these two global powerhouses that lasted for over 6,000 years.
